Privacy Policy

Overview

Unrent ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS app that helps you track streaming availability and alerts you when content becomes included with your subscriptions. We are committed to protecting your privacy and minimizing data collection.

Unrent does not require user accounts. All your watchlist data is stored locally on your device.

Data We Collect

Unrent collects minimal data. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, device identifier (IDFA/GAID), browsing history, or any other personally identifiable information.

The only data processed is:

IP Address (coarse location only): Our ad provider (Google AdMob) uses your IP address solely for coarse geographic targeting (country/region level) to serve non-personalized ads. This data is processed by Google and is not stored or accessible by us.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:

• Names, email addresses, or contact information
• Device identifiers (IDFA, GAID, or similar)
• Browsing or search history
• Location data (beyond IP-based country/region)
• Cookies or persistent tracking identifiers
• Usage analytics or behavioral data

Advertising

Unrent displays non-personalized ads through Google AdMob in "Limited Ads" mode. This means:

• No Apple IDFA or Google Advertising ID is collected
• No cookies or local storage is used for ad targeting
• Ads are based only on coarse geographic location (derived from IP address)
• Ad content is contextual, not behavioral

You may purchase a one-time in-app purchase to remove all ads from the app.

Push Notifications

Unrent uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver push notifications when titles on your watchlist change streaming status. This system uses anonymous topic subscriptions — your device subscribes to topics like "movie_12345" without any personal identification. We do not store or have access to your FCM device token in connection with any personal information.

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device's Settings app.

Third-Party Services

Unrent uses the following third-party services:

Local Data Storage

Your watchlist, preferences, and app settings are stored entirely on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server. If you delete the app, all local data is permanently removed.

Affiliate Partnerships

Unrent earns commissions from qualifying purchases and subscriptions through affiliate partnerships with Amazon Associates, Apple Services Performance Partners, and other streaming service affiliate programs. When you tap a "Watch on" button, you may be directed through an affiliate link. This does not affect the price you pay and does not involve sharing your personal data with these partners.

Children's Privacy

Unrent does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and collects no personally identifiable information from any user.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
